Small is beautiful

During our vacation to London last week, I saw a large number of sub-compact cars on the road. Made perfect sense - gas prices in the UK are around $8 per gallon. Safety issues notwithstanding, I wondered if the increasing gas prices here would encourage the US auto industry to take the leap into importing and/or manufacturing these fuel-efficient babies. The one car that caught my attention was DaimlerChrysler's innovative Smart Car. And this appeared in the news today.



Another Dinky that drew my attention on the streets of London turned out to be an electric car. A friend informed me that it was the REVA manufactured by the Maini Group of Bangalore. I felt good for Sandeep Maini, a guy I was friends with in Manipal.
